(Cro Cop vs. Al Turk Props: MMA Linker)
Dana White’s over-the-phone verbal contract with Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic prior to UFC 99 was the first time he’d done a deal with a fighter without getting it in writing, or negotiating in person. We’re guessing it’ll also be his last. The big scandal coming out of Germany after yesterday’s show is the surprise news that Cro Cop had already signed a new three-fight deal with DREAM by the time he stepped into the Octagon against Mostapha Al Turk (video above). Though Cro Cop had previously told White that he wanted to officially sign for two more fights in the UFC and make a run for the heavyweight title, the truth came out following Mirko’s TKO victory via eye-pokes. As you can imagine, DW was seeing red in the post-show press-conference:
According to MMA Junkie, Cro Cop "wanted to fight in Germany and use the UFC bout as a tuneup. He did and is now DREAM bound, but he’ll almost certainly never fight in the UFC again."
Ariel Helwani summed up the feelings of many bitter UFC fans on Yahoo!’s UFC 99 postfight show with Steve Cofield: "Cro Cop was punking all of us. I hope Cro Cop goes on a three fight losing streak and gets the hell out of MMA. He’s a disgrace…He can’t even beat Mostapha Al-Turk without poking him in the eye."
Whatever Filipovic’s motivations were, they certainly didn’t include the desire to test himself against the best heavyweights in the world. (Quick, name three heavyweights currently under contract with DREAM.) The only good that could possibly come of this is if Fedor Emelianenko leaves Affliction after the Josh Barnett fight and signs on with DREAM for a rematch with Filipovic, who he defeated by decision in 2005. Cro Cop could make his next appearance in DREAM as early as next month.

commentsCro Cop already has his name in MMA. He might be on the downslide but he wants to fight the best. Would the easiest road be to go through a constantly improving UFC HW division in route to people you dont match up well against, or ride your established name in a weaker outfit that has better potential of matching you with the # 1 HW in the world (Fedor)???
Do you think a fading CC gives a fuck about DW or the UFC at this point in his career?
Did Randy?
Does Fedor?
...Chew on that a while and let me know if you taste it.
'Binnis 101. DW should have known WAAAAAY better.
This would be great news for the cut rate journalist AIDSriel Helwanu. He would have a reason tto stop crying in his parent's basement and wishing crocop to have a 3 fight losing streak waaa waa waaa lmao.
Crocop didn't look good at all mind you but congrats on getting played Dana.
Thats a nice fucking essay you got there? Whos gonna read it?
If you think Dana White didn't know about the Dream contract, then you are as brain dead as the rest of the fucking douche bags who shit all over this site.
Dana's not that fucking retarded to get fooled like that.

Been a UFC fan since 1996, there have been some glitches along the way but, this was the worst ppv evah. Strikeforce and WEC last week were stellar compared to this show.
Dude, all you have to do is look at your typical UFC contract to see how badly the guys get fucked. They get signed to fight however many fights, but should they not perform to whatever standard Dana wants, they get dropped like a fly.
I mean really, look at this whole image thing. Where they have the fighters sign away their image to the UFC to use exclusively and indefinitely. Literally selling your soul to the devil, how else do you think guys like Tim Sylvia, Tito Ortiz + Andre Arlovski ended up in UFC Undisputed 2009.
Look at guys like Anderson Silva or Frank Mir, your average UFC Champion, and compare their salary with someone like Manny Pacquiao or Wladimir Klitschko, guys who can literally earn millions per fight.
The UFC is a joke (yet successful) as a organisation, they are unloyal to their fighters who put it all on the line for them, and yet pudgey Dana White has the balls to talk about "having what it takes to be a fighter" He wouldn't know what it takes to be a fighter if it literally hit him in the face, ever since his boxing days, he has always been a promoter or manager and never inside the ring/cage.
Because I no longer embrace old fighters past their prime or suck the nuts of fedor I am somehow passed as having any knowledge of the existence of lesser company's and the lesser fighters that are part of each company.
But the truth is I am hyper aware of them, and I am also able to step away from it all (unlike the fanatic nuthuggers that dwell herein -like Kazi for example) and see the truth, and the big picture.
Much like AA and AAA farm teams are very good, they are but places to gain skills slowly so that ONE day you can be called up to the " bigs", and regardless of what the Dana haters and the fedor cocksuckers think or preach,UFC is the "bigs", and all those "ex-UFC fighters" are being announced as that in these little minor leagues cause even they know that the UFC name is a draw. they also know that these fighters are to old, or simply do not have the skill level to fight in the "BIGS".
So anyone who thinks a strick UFC fan is an ignorant fan is an un intelligent person who doesn't have all the facts and is embittered sad and pitiful person who trys hard to live a lie that someday these minor leagues will topple the "bigs" OWN them, and show the world that they are the superior brand, and that Dana White and Zuffa somehow are the anti-christ....but that is only because that kinda fan lives in his or her own little pipe dream world ( again much like kazi), while those small companys are fully aware they are second rate.
When all fans learn to pay full attention to the fact that the UFC is a growing business in the world market and NOT a bleeding, dying freakshow like others the better off MMA will be.
Every fighter from every gym around the world that is legit knows that their goal is to get their fighter trained enough to one day make it to the biggest stage of all instead of settling for tapout season whatever, fighting at the local rodeo arena for chump change.
Good luck Kazi with your fantasy-league,I hope you still think I sound like an idiot, cause I still see a nutsack in your mouth, and in your future.
touche', you've out-witted me again. btw, you still didn't answer my question.
In my opinion, people that tend to be UFC fans as opposed to general MMA fans are idiots. I'm not saying all people who enjoy UFC fights are idiots, but people that think UFC = MMA seem to be a little dumber than the average human.

@ UFC fan
As I've asked 2 times before..do you always sounds like an idiot?"
and as I have asked you already ,do you always talk with balls in your mouth?
ask your stupid question again ballboy.
Sure, jiu jitsu's a big part of any good fighter's mma game nowadays, but after a bunch of fights last night, is it too much to hope for one damn good KO on a card?
Velasquez won his match, and yes he controlled the fight, but Kongo impressed me more than Cain did. Cain couldn't finish or submit Kongo, and he had tons of chances. Kongo took a relative beating and didn't give up. Anytime Kongo got distance from Cain he fared well. His corner should've had him more prepared at sidestepping and countering the clutch and grab. IMO, Velasquez's stock went down in that fight.
Uno should've got the decision, and Hardy's was a fair call.
Cro Cop clearly poked him in the eye, but if anyone's to blame, it should've been the referee for inaction. The ref should've given Al-Turk the time and space to compose himself and let the fight continue. Cro Cop would make more money overseas, and I'd do the same thing if I were him. DW shouid've offered a three fight deal, and not a one fight/more if you win type deal, things may have turned out different. DW used Cro Cop to sell tickets for one event, Cro Cop is looking out for his future. I get both individuals were used in their own respects. It's over.
Dana's a businesman, and Cro Cop's a fighter, each thinks differently. There's been no response from Cro Cop or his camp, so we only have DW's side of things for the moment. It's a little soon and I think wrong to be hating on Cro Cop.
I had to tolerate BJ jumping a weight class to fight GSP, all while screwing Florian and the other lightweights. Wanderlei can lose fight after fight and not get cut, while other fighters perform poorly in a couple fights and he cuts them for "seasoning". I haven't heard of fighter's getting cuts or percentages of the UFC game for using their likeneses, yet Fitch gets cut for looking out for himself. Sure, he was brought back, but I've no doubt there were ulterior motives by DW for that too. I don't know both sides to the story, but I know DW"s not squeaky clean too. Good businesmen have to be unscrupulous at times, but they shouldn't expect pity and compassion the second they are the ones on the short end of the stick.
Shut the fuck up with your stupid conspiracy theory bullshit. This is a MMA website.
As for all of you Dana White haters, you look like real tools, considering every fucking one of you has bought at least one Pay-Per-View of UFC. "Fuck Dana!! It's what he deserves!1!!11"..Come on. He puts on the shows that you guys like to watch.
As for Cro Cop, what a bitch move. To me, your word is your balls...Oh wait, Cro Cop hasn't had balls ever since he fought Overeem. So I should've seen some bitch-made move like this coming.
As I've asked 2 times before..do you always sounds like an idiot?
don't be hating on cro cop he's richer, has done more in mma than you, is better and i'll repeat the last one but add life to it.
Does anybody else think its weird to insult someone through another person's achievements? like an over competitive parent pushing their child into overly serious sporting events...
