Freak Show of the Decade Alert: Jose Canseco Calls Out Shaq, Shaq Happily Accepts

(Nineteen years later, we may finally find out how effective Shaq Fu is as a martial art.)

It’s been nearly four years since former Major League Baseball slugger Jose Canseco was defeated during the opening round of DREAM’s Super Hulk Tournament, but that hasn’t stopped him from attempting to find another MMA fight. Come to think of it, that last sentence isn’t entirely accurate. Let’s try again: It’s been nearly four years since Jose Canseco decided to get his ass kicked by Hong Man Choi, yet he’s still attempting to exploit MMA like it’s a former teammate’s steroid usage.

His most recent effort involved calling out former NBA center Shaquille O’Neal via his Twitter account. Shaq — already a big MMA fan with actual training under his belt — didn’t take kindly to being called out by a snitch. At this point, you’re probably already like…

…but you really have to see Shaq’s response for yourself, available after the jump.

If you’re a normal human being, this is roughly the point where you set what’s left of your ego aside and humbly apologize. But since we’re dealing with Jose Canseco, this is the point where he reminds everyone that he wasn’t training the last time he fought, and demonstrates exactly how much he has learned about game-planning since he started hanging out with Team Cesar Gracie:

Great minds, bro: They think alike.

Oh, and he also implies that those losses he suffered during his celebrity boxing career were fixed. Back to our regularly-scheduled Twitter beef…

To Canseco’s credit, he actually appears serious about setting up a fight.

Or does he?

As I’m typing this, Shaq is still firing back at Jose Canseco, so who knows when this will actually end. In the meantime, if a fight were to take place between the two, how would it end? Would Shaq show off his boxing prowess, or would Canseco exploit O’Neal’s takedown defense the way Charles Barkley did? Let us know what you think.

Jose would own him. Only due to the fact that in the hierarchy of sports, baseball is juuuuuusssssttt slightly less faggy than basketball. Just barely.

Jose Cuntseco is clearly a man who is very comfortable with public humiliation, judging by any other time he has appeared in public not on a baseball diamond.
