Knockout of the Year: Lyoto Machida Retires Randy Couture Via Crane Kick [GIF]

 

All praise be to Master Steven Seagal. Or Ralph Macchio. One of the two. Lyoto Machida‘s incredible jumping front-kick KO of Randy Couture at UFC 129 netted him the event’s Knockout of the Night bonus, which came out to a whopping $129,000. (See what Dana did there?) The UFC can certainly afford it, since UFC 129′s gate revenue was reportedly $12.075 million.

Also picking up $129k bonuses: Jose Aldo and Mark Hominick (Fight of the Night) for their epic five-round featherweight title bout, and Pablo Garza for his flying triangle over Yves Jabouin in the first preliminary match.

It wasn't "worked out" he was in the wrong and the judge dismissed his claim and ruled against him putting UFC's boot in Randy's throat he had no fucking choice but to come back and play nice, when all he had to do was play nice from the beginning, and every bad thing that happened to him was his own fucking fault. it wasn't business, it was Randy Coutures ego and his stupid nuthanging fan base blowing him daily about what a GOD he was of MMA, when in reality he was being paid more than he was worth to be part of the FACE of UFC.
sp what do i care? I care cause I hate a fucking thief, a liar, and bullshit overblown full of hot air asshole ...like Randy CUNToure.

@Ric Flair Have you seen Machida's fights with Rashad and Thiago Silva? He would have finished Rampage too if main events were 5 rounds like they should be. Don't know why UFC dismissed him down the card while continually moving Rashad, Rampage, Phil Davis, & Bones towards the titles when none of them have been able to or had to go through (in Bones case - wins over Bader & Matt Hamill should not propel you to a title shot).

Jake Shields IS the real snorefest fighter. Hopefully Dana learned his lesson after overhyping Shields, makes goodwill with the fans, and Shields will be relegated to co-headling fight nights now, where he should be.

Notice the announcers were backing off of his supposed "destruction of Dan Henderson", which was a boring decision win at best? How does a split decision win over Martin Kampmann (which I think Kampmann should have won) propel you to a title shot & main event spot in from of UFC's biggest crowd ever and with their most popular athlete?

People can say boring all they want about Machida, but at least someone wins or loses in his fights. Shields is the TRUE most boring, non-aggressive fighter and it especially shows when he fights stiffer competition.

fuck that, Machida is ALWAYS to be written off... he fuckin blows! He karate kicked an old man in the face, big deal. Feed Machida to Shogun again and watch what happens!!

On a side note, my 1 prediction came VERY true... that retard Benson Henderson tried pulling his Christ shit in Canada... and like I said it would be, the Canadian reaction to "CAN I GET AN AMEN?!!?" was ..... silence!!! crickets baby! we don't fall for that shit up here! it takes more than some christ talk and a couple chants of our country's name to win us over as fans. fuck benson henderson, go take a science class pal

Why hasn't anyone commented on how shitty Jake Sheildzz performance was? What in the fuck was this guy thinking... it really looked like a sparring session in there. He did absolutely nothing to try and finish the fight, I don't even remember him shooting once. This guy is a joke, the most boring fighter in the UFC, and I could care less if I ever see this dude fight again. What a fucking joke. JOKE.

I thought the card was awesome. Rory M and Nate Diaz was awesome. I loved watching Nate get thrown around like a rag doll. Jason Brilz getting KTFO by the Janitor was awesome. Lyoto M. crane kicking the fuck out of Randy was awesome. GSD and Jake Shields was an entertaining fight as well. Seeing GSP busted up is always entertaining because there is always the underlying worry he'll just implode out there. Great card! AND the fact that DW let that random fan place the belt around GSP was an excellent punctuation on a perfect card.

Both completely sick kicks. My main reason for the preference to Silva was how nonchalant he made it look.
I rewatched the interview, and Randys comment backs up what you're saying about the tooth...ouch.
This was a quality card.

Also agree, Diaz vs GSP makes sense. And bring back Daley - all is forgiven.
