Woefully uninformed sports site InGameNow.com labeled that last pic "Gina Carano and bodyguard" — though maybe Carano will need one when she meets Cris Cyborg in their Strikeforce title fight on August 15th...

Not to take away from everyone ripping on Gina's weight (I'm sure all of you commenting are in peak physical condition) or Cyborg's less-femine physique (face it: 98% of you would hit it; regardless of what you stumbled upon in the dark)
...but isn't nice, for a change, to see two athletes preparing for the fight of their careers and getting along? No trash talk needed. No faux rivalries. They seem to have a mutual respect and are both looking forward to pushing each others faces in.

With all due respect: you would probably eat through a mile of shit to sniff her ass, as my [...twisted...] high school gym teacher would say. She is very attractive, however; her weight issues - or lack thereof, really - and attractiveness are pretty incidental to the issue, in my opinion.

Carano is definitely a cute girl, and a good character for the sport. but those chute box fighters have a tendency to do lasting damage to faces so she better come ready on fight night. i hope she takes it but damn cyborg looks scary.

You would, but that is probably beside the point. I see a tendency in most guys to prop themselves up by saying, "X chick isn't hot man, I wouldn't give her a second look if she walked by"...And then, when she walks by, well...you get the point.
But I agree, though: she is a fighter, and that's probably what she should concentrate on if she wants to be taken legitimately.

It's going to be a good fight, we've never really seen either of these two in a full on big name fight. Carano has smooth striking and does a good job of not getting hit, and Cyborg fights like you just stole something. I don't know who to give the jujitsu advantage, I've only seen them choke out reporters lately.

I think it will be a Cyborg beat down i really like Gina she seems very likable & sincere but i see her getting outclassed badly i hate to say :(

Cyborg has the BJJ advantage. Her speciality is Muay Thai. Check out the vid of Gina's fight against Kelly Kobold and that will give you the sum of her skills on the ground. Gina can stuff a takedown and uses the cage to get back to her feet pretty well. But on the floor is not where her best skills are. She's not going to be anxious to hit the mat with Cyborg, but she should stuff about half of Christine's takedowns.
If they stay on they're feet, Gina can win this fight. If Cyborg gets the chance to grind this out on the floor (ala GSP) Gina's gonna have a long night.

Thank you, it's good to get this forum back on track! I was half expecting the topic to start into how they were going to wear their hair the night of the fight.
Cyborg's stand up is vicious, but seems a little one dimensional and over aggressive to me. Granted, all of her stoppages have been KO's and she has never actually submitted anyone in the ring, but she hasn't had to!

As for the fight, I expect Santos to win this. From what I've seen, Carano is the smoother striker so if she can keep it on the feet, she's definitely got a shot. But if it goes to the ground, I see Santos controlling her and breaking her down. Will be interesting to see both of them in the ring though. Outside of a Megumi Fujii vs. Ana Michelle Tavares rematch, I can't think of any two female fighters I'd rather see in a bout right now.
