Rory, Beware: BJ Penn Looking Pretty Damn Motivated Two Weeks Out From ‘UFC on FOX 5′

(Props: 0fficialbjpenn)

Check out the short video above and ask yourself one question: Has BJ Penn ever looked in better shape for a 170-pound fight? The former two-division champ released this video on Thanksgiving — 16 days before his December 8th meeting with Rory MacDonald at UFC on FOX 5 — and the video title claims that he’s already at 175 pounds, a quick schvitz away from making his welterweight limit. And to borrow an uncomfortable running gag from the UG, that’s 175 pounds of solid, thick, tightness.

If I didn’t know better, I’d say the Prodigy might be hitting the…actually, I’m not even going to go there. But bottom line, this is what a “motivated Penn” looks like. We found him, you guys. And for comparison, this is what a trench-coat model looks like. Does BJ have one more triumph left in him?

Fucking right BJ has another Triumph in him. He's a true figher! Not everybody is designed like him. He's going to knock Rory out.

Remember when joe stevenson out wrestled nate diaz and won a decision? Remember what penn did to stevenson? Yeah nate and penn are not comparable at all.

What kind of noon fans are posting here.. Bj has some of the best boxing, best takedown defense, best gaurd, best top control.. Wtf. This is a lightweight that took down jon fitch for fucks sake. Yeah he's lost a step, yeah hes not the best pfp fighter, but jesus you guys act like he's a 1 dimensional scrub or something. And i dont even like bj.

The hype for BJ is that he is one of the only fighters to ever have significant success fighting above his natural weight class. Sure he's old now, but every single loss on his ledger is to a current or former champion.

And the suggestion that he was outboxed twice by Edgar is absurd. The first fight wasn't even close in terms of who landed more strikes, and Penn clearly won the first 3 rounds. In case you're skeptical:

Looks in good shape....... for BJ.

It's good to see BJ taking this so seriously and being in top physical condition, but unfortunately I think this is just going to mentally break BJ in the end.
He couldn't do anything against GSP and now is going to fight a bigger and more aggressive version of GSP...This is Penn putting his best foot forward to find out that his best is no where near good enough. No fitness "what if's" or steroid accusations to fall back on, he will be forced to realize that even the best BJ Penn won't get near a 155 or 170 title ever again.

To be honest I never really understood the hype for BJ either. I mean yea hes a good lightweight, but his not the most skilled so...I mean he does have some swell hands and killer instinct but it takes more than that THESE DAYS in the UFC. Thats why hes not champion no more. Not to mention his boxing isn't even what it used to be. Nick Diaz outboxed him and Frankie Edgar out boxed him twice. He was motivated too. But hes getting slower with his age and all the weed he smoking over there in Hawaii probably aint helping either. He should of retired after the 3rd Matt Hughes fight imo.

I dont know what this video proves, especially since its only 25 seconds. Not to mention BJ is lightly technique shadowing and im not terribly impressed. If Rory even allows BJ to stand up and box with him he probably has something for him better. BJ used to be good. But hes type old now. Shouldn't of even taken this fight. I guess he feels he still has more to prove but I think this one will put him in just a deeper whole.

He's got no chance if he keeps his thumbs sticking out like that when he punches. I call McDonald 1st round sub via thumblock.
