Sour Grapes Alert: Jon Fitch Describes GSP vs. Diaz as “Bullshit”

Jon Fitch” src=”http://www.cagepotato.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/com_090130_fitch_interview.jpg” alt=” width=”397″ height=”224″ />

And don’t even get me started on the so called “birth certificate” of our president, you guys. Guys?

Well, that didn’t take long. With GSP vs. Diaz looking more likely by the day, you had to figure that someone would have a problem with it. Yesterday Jon Fitch let it be known that even though he is out of action due to a shoulder injury, and he kind of has a rematch with BJ Penn waiting for him when he gets back, he should be next in line to fight GSP.   Jon Fitch was prompted to voice his displeasure for Nick Diaz by a rapture joke (seriously), and kept going on his Twitter account from there.  All thing’s considered, it’s pretty entertaining.  The results are after the jump, in chronological order.

*Note: Some of these are things that Jon Fitch re-tweeted.  For those who don’t use Twitter, “re-tweeting” gives you the option of sharing what other people wrote with your followers. Basically, it’s your way of either saying “I wish I wrote that” or “I wish I could write that without getting in trouble”.

Not exactly…

Fitch has since claimed that Shields vs. Diaz was meant to be a joke.

Swick attempting to be the voice of reason.

Believe me, I know. I’ve seen the guy fight.

Not a fan of Marius Zaromskis, I take it?

What about his not wrong?

In all honesty do you go to work the next day and ask if anyono saw the john fitch fight... hell no.
FRITO-BANDITO- May 24, 2011 at 1:59 am
No one will ever read this because this is the longest list of comments I've ever seen. Anyway here goes: Does Diaz deserve this match? Maybe not, But HELL YES! he has a chance. A good one, he wii make GSP fight and if GSP doesn't finish him, then Diaz will finish GSP. No 5 round decision. By the way who's Fitch? I've never seen him in a Hi-light real.
fatbellyfrank- May 24, 2011 at 12:47 am
@ cro cops cup, I didn't mean they were fans, just sad he gets em to pose as fans, and please dont blow my cover like that again, we both know Im an idiot, lets just keep it under our hats and see how many others notice

Diaz would smash jon fitch and call him a bitch at the same time.

Fitch hasn't won sh*t yet. He sure seemed good, but when he fought GSP, he was out of his league. I can think of a few guys Fitch can fight: Martin Kampmann, Diego Sanchez, BJ Penn, Tyron Woodley, Nick Diaz, Jake Shields, Josh Koscheck, Thiago Alves and I'm sure there are a few more out there who'd love to face him. He actually thinks he's that good? He's lucky BJ didn't choke his as* in the first round. Fitch vs GSP? Not happening. He hasn't shown he is worthy of that rematch, so why even talk about it. It's just another case of player hating. Simple as that. Fitch hasn't proved crap besides the fact he likes to dry hump men. I, personally, want to see men fight, not having sex.
man- May 23, 2011 at 5:55 pm
How about Fitch vs Diaz? That way Diaz can get his boxing match first, Fitch heal up, and the winner take on GSP (and get beat).

@ RWR & Bongtar (love the name by the way)
Thanks guys, and you hit the nail on the head RWR, we are sooooo spoiled. When I said "you guys argue over the dumbest shit", I should have said "WE" cause, I'm guilty of it too. Bongtar also said a mouthfull when he named the fighters that have had their crack at GSP, and stated it's only fair that Diaz gets a shot.

@RwilsonR

How crazy would it be if GSP vs. Diaz happens before Pacquiao vs Mayweather? Heh..."if".
BONGTAR- May 23, 2011 at 9:41 am
Smitty is right about that...they are all great fighters, all deserve a shot....Diaz v. GSP makes sense right now. If Diaz fought Avles and lost, it would take away a huge PPV from the UFC. Alves had a shot, Fitch had a shot, Shields had a shot....only one left to go, and then GSP can officially deem the division swept and move up if he chooses. Diaz has done enough to deserve the shot. Explain how he is less worthy than Shields or Fitch, guys who never finish. Diaz almost never makes it a full fight, he finishes, and that's something GSP hasnt seen in a long time..... Best 170 matchup IMO
RwilsonR- May 23, 2011 at 9:28 am
What Smitty says is actually pretty accurate, and damn amazing when you stop and think about it. Given that I grew up onboxing where the best would rarely fight the best, and it took years to set up when they eventually did, we are kind of spoiled. If all of these people are deserving in any way, it is almost a certainty that Dana White and Joe Silva will make it happen. We should at least be thankful for that.

Smitty- May 23, 2011 at 8:56 am
Some of you guys argue over the dumbest shit. Some of these fighters may not be YOUR fan favorite, but to classify GSP, Fitch, Diaz, or Shields as anything but great fighters is absurd. The baldfather will call the shots as to who fights who, and I'll be there (sometimes) with my $45 ready to watch whoever fights GSP next for the title. They will all eventually fight each other anyway so, why all the frustration???
ccman- May 23, 2011 at 8:10 am
And no, you said fights are not always for our entertainment. I say then they would be done in a closed warehouse or something. these fights are exclusively for entertainment. And it can be their CAREER all day long, if an actor does not entertain the said actor goes by a different title, like waiter. Fighters are the same, and thinking of it as something loftier is delusional. You do not want to entertain there will not be a market to pay you, which in turn makes this a hobby, not a job, because noone will pay you to do it.
Cro Cops Cup- May 23, 2011 at 7:48 am
fatbellyfrank, you're an idiot... not even Fitch's friends & family are fans of his. I'm sure they're all dummy accounts created by Fitch himself.

But seriously, Diaz vs GSP makes way more sense on every level.

Diaz is the champion in the #2 organization, he's on a 3 year/10 fight win streak, he finishes fights, he entertains people in & out of the cage, & he's never fought GSP before.

Fitch is injured, he's coming off a DRAW, he doesn't finish fights, people don't like watching him fight, he's already lost to GSP in a title fight, & he hasn't exactly shown that he'd fare any better a second time around.
KarmaAteMyCat- May 23, 2011 at 7:24 am
I didn't say it makes me an expert no. However being around the fighters I've been around and talking with them about all this on multiple occasions gives me a bit of an insight into the situation yes. I hope to someday be in the upper echelon of the sport so I try my best to keep an open mind about it all and sometimes I even try to use a little bit of LOGIC. Does it bother you that much to think of this as their job? This is their all or nothing. I am more then a fan you are right but not for Jon Fitch or any other I am a FANATIC for this sport. That in it's own makes me take a bit of a higher ground then you I suppose Objectivity is asking a lot isn't it? Ghetto First person saying? It's okay keep being the typical pretentious fan it suits you.
ccman- May 23, 2011 at 6:39 am
Karma, first off a fan is a fanatic, it is an abbreviated version of the same word.

Second off, as fans we do not and should not care about the fighters 'making a living and furthering himself" We pay our money to be entertained. enter-fucking-tain me or do not get my money.
I know your laundry list of Amatuer fights makes you an expert in business and all but seriously, how many times does DW have to say show up to fight or do something else? He has offered Fitch a road to another shot at the title numerous times and spoon fed him BJ Penn, who he should have owned in a yawning manner, and blew it. He was told fight Kos for a #1 spot, refused. was told finish somebody, hasn't and hasn't even tried. If he wants to be a boring fighter and whine, kudos to him, does not make me suddenly care. Fitch and how badly he did last time should not get a title shot as long as GSP holds the belt. And at this point really would have to WOW me to convince me otherwise.
(assume some mildly ghetto first person goodbye here)
OLLY_g- May 23, 2011 at 5:22 am
fitch is sat at home thinking whats going to be a better tool to hype himself up, learning to strike or twitter.... he chose the latter
WK- May 23, 2011 at 5:00 am
Why is Fitch even complaining? If Diaz does beat GSP, shouldn't he be glad the person holding the UFC WW belt is a crappier wrestler than both he and GSP?
RaginAsian- May 23, 2011 at 3:54 am
If BJ Penn can put Fitch on his back, so can GSP. Again. For 5 rounds.

Maybe if he spent more time getting better and less time complaining, he'd actually get that second shot he wants so much.
