The 15 Greatest Knockouts in ‘The Ultimate Fighter’ History

Season 10 – Roy Nelson vs. Brendan Schaub

From the moment we found out that former IFL heavyweight champion Roy Nelson was cast on TUF 10, he was heavily (get it?) favored to win it all. Throughout his run on the show, his combination of experience and pure girth helped him roll past Kimbo Slice, Justin Wren, and James McSweeney, setting him up for a finale showdown against fellow KO artist Brendan Schaub. Once again, Nelson’s experience, along with his heavy hands, would prove to be his deadliest weapons. True to his nickname “The Hybrid” would start off strong, only to break down near the end of the first round compliments of a “Big Country” overhand right. Just goes to show that VW bus will always overpower a Prius.

Season 9 – Nick Osipczak vs. Mark Miller

TUF 9 was the first and only season in the show’s history to feature a nation vs. nation setup, and what better two to pair against each another than the greatest rivalry in the history of modern man? Unfortunately, the show did not play out quite like the good ol’ US of A would have hoped, with two Brits snagging both spots in the lightweight finale and winning the welterweight finale as well. Worse than that was the episode 4 fight between IFL vet Mark “The Meat Missle” Miller and Nick Osipczak. Dana White picked Miller to win, and Team Henderson striking coach Cyrille Diabate assured Miller that “Slick” wasn’t much of a kicker. AMERICA HAD THIS IN THE BAG. But alas, both men were wrong, and Osipczak wrecked Miller with a head kick at the end of the second round. As we watched Miller go face down, dreaming of baseball and apple pie, we collectively lowered our flags to half mast, for behind us lied yet another fallen soldier in this bloody, endless war.

Season 8 – Ryan Bader vs. Vinny Magalhaes

In the classic battle of striker vs. grappler, hard hitting wrestler Ryan Bader squared off against submission whiz Vinny Magalhaes in the light heavyweight finals. The fight was over before it started, when a wild overhand right had Vinny looking for a way out early, and Bader, the gentlemen that he is, offered it via a few follow up punches to his downed opponent. It remains the second fastest finish in TUF Finale history, just behind Mac Danzig’s hundredth straight rear-naked choke victory over Tommy Speer the season before, and paved the way for what has been a rather successful UFC run for Bader, who has only dropped losses to current champ Jon Jones (guillotine) and former champ Tito Ortiz (flukeotine).

Season 7 – Matt Riddle vs. Dan Simmler

Literally defining the phrase “the punch heard round the world,” Matt Riddle‘s second round knockout of Dan Simmler in their season 7 preliminary matchup was undoubtedly the most brutal knockout in the show’s history. Not only did it shatter Simmler’s jaw, but in the moments afterward, his bloodcurdling moans of agony rang throughout the TUF gym, mimicking the sound a whale makes when it is harpooned in the testicles. It was probably one of the only moments in TUF history that caused its viewers to collectively shudder in abhorrence. You know, aside from that whole semen eating incident on season 8 and Jon Tuck’s broken toe from season 15.

TK's heart? Gomi's footwork? Chuck's thumbs? "El Indestructo" has all the makings of a Pride-is-so-much-better-than-the-UFC argument on the UG from circa 2003-2004. Seems like the Lesnar part was added in later to help "El Indestructo" evolve with the sport.

Nevermind, I am a stupid asshole. Totally thought the "perfect fighter" and greatest knockouts were two separate articles.. that's what I get for getting 4 hours sleep and posting before my coffee.
ArmFarmer- March 29, 2012 at 6:33 am
@half the posters: This isn't the article you are looking for.. move along.

I am surprised Bredan Schwab didnt recieve permanant injury after Nelsons head bouncing second slam.
Pete sells Knockout was just insane and should be number one IMO.
Mackenzitine should be number two.

Shogun's extremely limited gas tank? It doesn't matter how perfect the fighter is when he'll be dying by the time he reaches the cage.
Bill-BJJ- March 29, 2012 at 2:56 am
Er guys?

Do we really want a convicted rapists BALLS to be part of our "perfect fighter"?

I know he took a lot of shots to them but they've been part to some pretty horrific shit.
CrazyButNotReally- March 28, 2012 at 11:13 pm
Should have had Wanderlei's eyebrows.
LB_Fargo- March 28, 2012 at 10:44 pm
Why they hell do they have "Fedor's New Bionic Hand" on that picture.. it should be Dan Henderson's H-Bomb and everyone knows it.

MKO- March 28, 2012 at 6:44 pm
No way Matt Riddle shouldn't have been number one. You could have not shown it, just played the sound to it and it would easily be number one.
"Rampage, what happened? Was it training?"
DangadaDang- March 28, 2012 at 7:28 pm
The KO's were ranked according to season. Otherwise, you bet your ass that would be number one.
FightZen- March 28, 2012 at 4:00 pm
"It took exactly twenty seconds for Swick to land nearly 300,000 punches" So true... can't wait for his return. Some day...
bootystar- March 28, 2012 at 8:41 pm

ZombieRock- March 28, 2012 at 3:33 pm
Gomi uses foot work? I thought he just put his head down and plodded forward. Frankie Edgar's footwork would have made sense.

I was just about to make this comment. Totally absurd. Obviously made by someone trying to hold onto a pride myth.
mDino- March 28, 2012 at 3:24 pm
If you bring this goron zoras eyedrops than he will forge you a giant sword
DangadaDang- March 28, 2012 at 4:01 pm

Nicely played, mDino!
DangadaDang- March 28, 2012 at 2:56 pm
I would just like to comment that 'El Indestructo' bares a striking resemblance to Gabriel Gonzaga. At least in the face.
bootystar- March 28, 2012 at 8:47 pm
