‘UFC 123: Rampage vs. Machida’ to Go Down 11/20 in Auburn Hills

(Some fan-made video hype from SandmanMMAPromotions)

MMAFighting has confirmed that the previously reported bout between former UFC light-heavyweight champions Quinton Jackson and Lyoto Machida will headline November 20th’s UFC 123 card, which will take place at the Palace of Auburn Hills in Auburn Hills, Michigan. It will be the UFC’s first event in the Great Lakes State since the spectacularly bad UFC 9, which was marked by an official ban on head-punches and a 30-minute Superfight Championship between Ken Shamrock and Dan Severn, in which both future Hall of Famers refused to engage, circling each other for the majority of the bout. That ill-fated event was held at Detroit’s Cobo Hall; now that Detroit has returned to wilderness, the UFC will instead head north to the suburb of Auburn Hills and the longtime home stadium of the Detroit Pistons.

At this point, the only other match reported for the event is a welterweight scrap between Matt Brown and Rory MacDonald. Brown is coming off consecutive submission losses against Ricardo Almeida and Chris Lytle, while MacDonald most recently succumbed to a TKO with just seven seconds remaining of his UFC 115 fight against Carlos Condit. You could say it’s one of those "must win" fights for both sides. And yet one of them will inevitably lose. Doesn’t seem fair, does it.

I think its high time for Rampage to bring back the bad breath jokes - "hey machida, yo breff stank of piss brah"

I LOVE watching Matt (the frown) Brown getting his furled brow straightened by a flurry of octo-love. I hope Rory stretches it out for 3 rounds because the immortal deserves foreplay.

i know im gonna get hated on for this but eh...... i like rampage in this because he is the more technical boxer out of the two... remember the wandy fight?.... he looked crisped.... as of late yeah he hasnt looked the best... but remember what shogun did to machida's 'elusiveness' because he was the better boxer?..... im just saying

This area of Micigan is nice, but I think the few people in Detroit left with money are not the UFC type. DW will be giving away alot of free tickets via twitter for this one.

How quick everybody is to doubt the Lord and Savior Rampage Jackson. The Second Coming approaches. Be prepared.

In a career of Trash -Talking extrodinaire. Rampage has been unable to back the talk as of late. I hope he worries more about the preparation for this fight than the wise-cracking. Otherwise he could very likely lose this fight.
This is an Evolving sport that Rampage is in, and I see nothing but reluctance from him towards evolving...this does not bode well for him.
If I were in Machida's camp I sure would have a game-plan for Rampage,...and I know it would work. Very effectively.

Machida has got this one in the bag. Too diverse and technical for Rampage.

If by fast and elusive you mean flying hug attack, yes he was fast and elusive in that fight.

If Rampage thought Rashad was too fast and elusive, wait until he gets a load of Machida.
Machida will probably do Rampage like he did Fucko not too long ago.

Well this just made my day, not only is the palace only 5 minutes from my house but the people that own the palace of auburn hills are members of the country club I work at so I should be able to score seats in the owners suite.

I really hope Rampage gets a new camp. His idea of training with British guys to fight a wrestler in his last fight didn't quite make sense.

Rampage will probably come out with his boxing-only style, and Machida will be back to his elusiveness. I hope for a knock out with this one (from either guy, I could care less who), but chances are pretty good this one will be Machida by decision due to leg kicks.

Matt Brown cannot lose. I will not allow it. He is my passion, even if he, in his dispassionate, cowboy way, acts indifferent . God, I wish I could quit him.
