UFC Picks Up U.K. Welterweight Standout Paul Daley

According to Fighters Only, the UFC has just rescued Paul "Semtex" Daley from Affliction's wreckage, signing the British 170-pounder to a four-fight contract. Daley, who was scheduled to fight Jay Hieron on the undercard of "Trilogy" before the event was canceled, is the former Cage Rage welterweight champion, and sports a record of 21-8-2, with 17 of his wins coming via stoppage due to strikes. He holds notable wins over Duane Ludwig, Jess Liaudin, Xavier Foupa-Pokam, and John Alessio. As FO explains:
Semtex's one-sided submission loss to Jake Shields at EliteXC: Heat showed that his ground skills aren't quite solid enough for him to compete with the best welterweights in the world. But when it comes to exciting knockout artists who always put on a good show, they don't get much better than Daley. Plus, you can't depend on Bisping forever...

Ur all Gsp nut your being sarcastic right (its tough to tell sometimes online). Daley's wrestling and just general ground game is fucking atrocious. The kid is one of the best WW strikers there is, (I'd love to see him and Chris Wilson) but his ground game is fucking horrible to watch.

I'm supposed to believe this guy is 5'9". Is there some kind of discrepancy between european heights and american heights like there is with shoe sizes? Seriously, every single ring girl in that highlight was taller than him. In fact, every single person in that highlight was taller than him. What's the over/under on the number of fights he's in before he's dropped from the UFC?

Daley is a blast to watch. Great pick up for the UFC. And yes, while his ground game isn't one of his strengths, the last time he lost to a submission was to Shields, who is very good. Before that, he had gone 8 fights over two years without a sub loss. So... we'll see. I'm excited to see him fight regardless.
