Because either Nick “The Anti-Bullshit Superhero” Diaz has been busy blowing off documentary film crews or Dana White has been lying about Diaz supposedly doing so, we’re not getting a UFC 158 Primetime special. That sucks, especially given the comedy gold Diaz was able to churn out during last week’s media call. Further adding insult to injury is the fact that the crew who brought us past Primetime documentaries is the same that has put together the Emmy award-winning, 24/7 ones for HBO.
Luckily, we still have a lil some’ some’ from the UFC to give us taste of welterweight champ Georges St. Pierre and challenger Nick Diaz’s training camps – a ten minute preview video, complete with analysis from Kenny Florian and bonus footage of Carlos Condit and Johny Hendricks promising to beat the heck out of each other in the night’s co-headlining, #1 contender matchup. Does anyone else foresee a memorable post-fight cage confrontation headed our way?
The correct answer to that question is “yes.” Unless Diaz loses of course, in which case we will be treated to another half-assed pseudo retirement tirade. Should be fun.
It ain’t Primetime, but this video gave us our fix for the day. Besides, Countdown to UFC 158 will premiere on Fuel TV at 11 p.m EST tonight, so if this snippet ain’t doing it for you, the full special surely will.

commentsGSP is more athletic, a harder hitter (he is, seriously), has cardio to go 5, doesn't get goaded into bad plans (how either Diaz wins) and doesn't get into bad positions. Nick wins by making you fight his fight. Loses when you refuse. Doesn't have 1 punch power, has he ever taken someone down? And off his back only has anything from bad top control. Seriously, shy of this becoming a brawl, how does Diaz win?
diaz doesnt have too much take down skills but he doesnt really need it. he WANTS other fighters to take you down. mostly all his submissions are from other fighters taking him down. his ju-jistu is at the VERY top of the pole. When he fought condit, he even said he wanted to keep the fight standing up because he knows of his skills on the ground. condit made it HIS fight and not nicks so nick lost =/.
GSP's lay and pray wont really work with nick his skills are far too good for that to happen. Id love to see it go on the ground.
Also, in GSP's condit fight, condits headkick rocked GSP pretty bad during the fight and it didnt even look like that hard of a hit. Nick doesnt have any kicking skills at all but id love to see him rock GSP like that with a nice little 1,2 combo and then go to town while he is on the ground.
This fight to me is like the belfort/jones fight. Jones IS the best light heavy-weight but belfort is SO skilled and almost ended jones arm. That fight could of gone either way SO quickly. That is how i feel with this fight and i honestly cant wait.
PS - I hope jonny wins his fight =/. He really does deserve the title shot. I hope condit doesnt fight with his hit and run startagy so jonny cant even get punches or takedowns in. =/
Its quite an experience, but I wont go back! The crowd was insane (especially the guys beside us...they were C-R-A-Z-Y),but when I re-watched the fight it was like a completely different card!!!Apart Rogan,White and "friends" the best seat in the house might be....in front of my flat screen! But it was quite a night!!!
Like I said in my previous reply earlier,I CANT WAIT!
This guy.
I've been waiting for this card since....the first time I heard abt it...
Its too bad that Rory's hurt tho,cuz hes as exiting as a fighter can get.
CANNOT WAIT...Plus its right in my backyard!! (nahhhh, but 10mins drive is not that far!)
But I will be watching the card in my living room with my 3 buddies. I've been to 1 live UFC event...and I didnt like that!I mean,it was cool ,but I prefer the comfort of my place (plenty of COLD beer,no annoying a** beside you,and its not a 5mins walk to take a piss).
