You can tighten a triangle and choke someone out in about 3 seconds if your using your "strength meter" at 10, but if you go at like a 5, it'll take about 10 seconds to sink in. So it creeps up on you, that dude probably thought "what the hell is he doing, is this even a choke? naa it cou.. zzzzzzz" Thats probably why he didn't sit on his butt and piledrive him. He didn't think it was necessary.

I'd have gone for the Urijah faber patented atomic butt drop. Maybe you get DQ'd if those are the rules, maybe you just get points off. Still, I don't think it's topped Rumina Sato's flying armbar, but it's pretty close.

yea, i think you pretty much got it. He probably didn't think he was gonna attempt a choke like that so he didn't feel he was in enough danger to try something like piledriving the guy.

Dude definitly gets to name the submission. I think if you're the first person to pull off a certain submission you get to name it.

If you don't recognize a choke, you can go unconscious before you realize you're in danger. Think about if you didn't know that a rear naked choke was dangerous until you actually began to feel the blood being cut off. By the time you could react, you'd be out.
You see this more often in gi grappling because there are all sorts of funky chokes where if you happen to turn the wrong way you'll end up choking yourself out and fun stuff like that.
Minus the standing-up part, I've been in this position a couple times grappling. Never been able to finish it though...
